Točno 21. travnja 1995. godine iz Francuske Gvajane lansiran je u svemir ERS 2, odnosno European remote sensing koji je tada bio jedan od najsofisticiranijih satelita za promatranje Zemlje. Gotovo 30 godina poslije, došlo je vrijeme za povratak na Zemlju. Na putu do konačnog raspada, prolazio je iznad središnje Europe, put ga je vodio i preko Hrvatske.
"Ovaj je značajan za znanost jer je bio vrlo važan u istraživanju Zemlje, oceana, kopna, atmosfere, mjerio je brzine vjetra bio je važan za proučavanje temperature oceana, mjerio je razne visine u milimetar precizno", tvrdi astronom Ante Radonić za Danas.hr.
- "Možda imamo priliku vidjeti taj raspad, možemo reći svemirskog smeća, jer je taj satelit na kraju svog radnog vijeka. Napravljeno je da deorbitira, objašnjava Boris Štromar, predsjednik Astronomskog društva Bezdan iz Zagreba.

Europska svemirska agencija odlučila je prekinuti misiju nakon što je ERS 2 uspješno radio 16 godina. Zbog mogućnosti sudara s ostalim satelitima, nakon godina propadanja u orbiti krenuo je put Zemlje.
Bio je veličine autobusa, dug više od 11 metara, težak 2 tone. Većina njegovih dijelova izgorjela je pri ulasku u Zemljinu atmosferu.
- Prilično je teško predvidjeti njegovu točnu putanju jer atmosfera nije homogena, negdje je gušća, negdje nije. Ovisi i o solarnom vjetru, tako da je zapravo neki pad satelita puno nepreciznije za predvidjeti od naprimjer nekog asteroida, kaže Štromar.
"Meteori u sekundi - dvije mogu prijeći preko cijelog neba, satelite je lako prepoznati jer njihovo izgaranje traje jako dugo, treba im preko nekoliko minuta da pređu od horizonta do horizonta", dodaje Štromar.
Stoga se nemojte iznenaditi kada na noćnom nebu ugledate još neki zastarjeli satelit, meteor ili nešto treće dok pada na Zemlju, piše Danas.hr.

Točno 21. travnja 1995. godine iz Francuske Gvajane lansiran je u svemir ERS 2, odnosno European remote sensing koji je tada bio jedan od najsofisticiranijih satelita za promatranje Zemlje. Gotovo 30 godina poslije, došlo je vrijeme za povratak na Zemlju. Na putu do konačnog raspada, prolazio je iznad središnje Europe, put ga je vodio i preko Hrvatske.
"Ovaj je značajan za znanost jer je bio vrlo važan u istraživanju Zemlje, oceana, kopna, atmosfere, mjerio je brzine vjetra bio je važan za proučavanje temperature oceana, mjerio je razne visine u milimetar precizno", tvrdi astronom Ante Radonić za Danas.hr.
- "Možda imamo priliku vidjeti taj raspad, možemo reći svemirskog smeća, jer je taj satelit na kraju svog radnog vijeka. Napravljeno je da deorbitira, objašnjava Boris Štromar, predsjednik Astronomskog društva Bezdan iz Zagreba.

Europska svemirska agencija odlučila je prekinuti misiju nakon što je ERS 2 uspješno radio 16 godina. Zbog mogućnosti sudara s ostalim satelitima, nakon godina propadanja u orbiti krenuo je put Zemlje.
Bio je veličine autobusa, dug više od 11 metara, težak 2 tone. Većina njegovih dijelova izgorjela je pri ulasku u Zemljinu atmosferu.
- Prilično je teško predvidjeti njegovu točnu putanju jer atmosfera nije homogena, negdje je gušća, negdje nije. Ovisi i o solarnom vjetru, tako da je zapravo neki pad satelita puno nepreciznije za predvidjeti od naprimjer nekog asteroida, kaže Štromar.
"Meteori u sekundi - dvije mogu prijeći preko cijelog neba, satelite je lako prepoznati jer njihovo izgaranje traje jako dugo, treba im preko nekoliko minuta da pređu od horizonta do horizonta", dodaje Štromar.
