Svi znamo jednu osobu koja, unatoč tome što je cijelo njeno kućanstvo zaraženo covidom-19, nikada nije bila pozitivna na ovaj virus. Sada su znanstvenici pronašli objašnjenje, a nova studija pokazuje da dio ljudi doživi "abortivnu infekciju" u kojoj virus ulazi u tijelo, ali ga T-stanice imunološkog sustava čiste u najranijoj fazi, što znači da PCR i testovi na antitijela bilježe negativan rezultat, prenosi Jutarnji. 

Oko 15% zdravstvenih radnika, koji su praćeni tijekom prvog vala pandemije u Londonu, uklapa se u ovaj scenarij. Ovo otkriće moglo bi utrti put novoj generaciji cjepiva koje će biti usmjereno na odgovor T-stanica, što bi moglo proizvesti dugotrajniji imunitet, rekli su znanstvenici.

Leo Swadling, imunolog sa Sveučilišta u Londonu i glavni autor studije, rekao je: “Svatko ima anegdotske dokaze o ljudima koji bili izloženi virusu, ali nisu podlegli infekciji. No, ono što nismo znali je jesu li te osobe doista uspjele u potpunosti izbjeći virus ili su prirodno očistili virus prije nego što se mogao otkriti rutinskim testovima.”

Najnovija studija intenzivno je pratila zdravstvene radnike tijekom prvog vala pandemije kako bi zabilježili znakove infekcije i imunološki odgovor. Unatoč visokom riziku od izloženosti virusu, 58 sudionika ni u jednom trenutku nije bilo pozitivno na covid-19.

Međutim, uzorci krvi uzeti od ovih ljudi pokazali su da su imali porast broja T-stanica koje su reagirale na covid-19, u usporedbi s uzorcima koje su uzeli prije nego što je pandemija zavladala i u usporedbi s ljudima koji uopće nisu bili izloženi virusu.

Istraživanje sugerira da je skupina ljudi već imala memorijske T-stanice od prethodnih infekcija drugim sezonskim virusima koji su uzrokovali obične prehlade, što ih je zaštitilo od covida-19.

“Ove već postojeće T-stanice mogu prepoznati SARS-CoV-2”, rekao je Swadling.

Alexander Edwards, izvanredni profesor biomedicinske tehnologije na Sveučilištu Reading, rekao je: “Ova studija identificira (novi) ishod – dovoljnu izloženost virusu da se aktivira dio vašeg imunološkog sustava, ali nedovoljnu se osjetite simptomi, zabilježi značajna količina virusa i pokrene odgovor antitijela".

“Cjepivo koje jača imunitet T-stanica protiv različitih meta virusnih proteina, koje dijele mnogi koronavirusi, nadopunilo bi naša cjepiva koja induciraju neutralizirajuća antitijela. Budući da se radi o komponentama unutar virusa, antitijela su manje učinkovita – umjesto toga, T-stanice ulaze u igru", rekao je Andrew Freedman, istraživač zaraznih bolesti na Medicinskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Cardiffu.

Svi znamo jednu osobu koja, unatoč tome što je cijelo njeno kućanstvo zaraženo covidom-19, nikada nije bila pozitivna na ovaj virus. Sada su znanstvenici pronašli objašnjenje, a nova studija pokazuje da dio ljudi doživi "abortivnu infekciju" u kojoj virus ulazi u tijelo, ali ga T-stanice imunološkog sustava čiste u najranijoj fazi, što znači da PCR i testovi na antitijela bilježe negativan rezultat, prenosi Jutarnji. 

Oko 15% zdravstvenih radnika, koji su praćeni tijekom prvog vala pandemije u Londonu, uklapa se u ovaj scenarij. Ovo otkriće moglo bi utrti put novoj generaciji cjepiva koje će biti usmjereno na odgovor T-stanica, što bi moglo proizvesti dugotrajniji imunitet, rekli su znanstvenici.

Leo Swadling, imunolog sa Sveučilišta u Londonu i glavni autor studije, rekao je: “Svatko ima anegdotske dokaze o ljudima koji bili izloženi virusu, ali nisu podlegli infekciji. No, ono što nismo znali je jesu li te osobe doista uspjele u potpunosti izbjeći virus ili su prirodno očistili virus prije nego što se mogao otkriti rutinskim testovima.”

Najnovija studija intenzivno je pratila zdravstvene radnike tijekom prvog vala pandemije kako bi zabilježili znakove infekcije i imunološki odgovor. Unatoč visokom riziku od izloženosti virusu, 58 sudionika ni u jednom trenutku nije bilo pozitivno na covid-19.

Međutim, uzorci krvi uzeti od ovih ljudi pokazali su da su imali porast broja T-stanica koje su reagirale na covid-19, u usporedbi s uzorcima koje su uzeli prije nego što je pandemija zavladala i u usporedbi s ljudima koji uopće nisu bili izloženi virusu.

Istraživanje sugerira da je skupina ljudi već imala memorijske T-stanice od prethodnih infekcija drugim sezonskim virusima koji su uzrokovali obične prehlade, što ih je zaštitilo od covida-19.

“Ove već postojeće T-stanice mogu prepoznati SARS-CoV-2”, rekao je Swadling.

Alexander Edwards, izvanredni profesor biomedicinske tehnologije na Sveučilištu Reading, rekao je: “Ova studija identificira (novi) ishod – dovoljnu izloženost virusu da se aktivira dio vašeg imunološkog sustava, ali nedovoljnu se osjetite simptomi, zabilježi značajna količina virusa i pokrene odgovor antitijela".

“Cjepivo koje jača imunitet T-stanica protiv različitih meta virusnih proteina, koje dijele mnogi koronavirusi, nadopunilo bi naša cjepiva koja induciraju neutralizirajuća antitijela. Budući da se radi o komponentama unutar virusa, antitijela su manje učinkovita – umjesto toga, T-stanice ulaze u igru", rekao je Andrew Freedman, istraživač zaraznih bolesti na Medicinskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Cardiffu.

Bili ste okruženi zaraženima, a vi sami niste pokupili virus? Nova studija otkriva što se dogodilo

Svi znamo jednu osobu koja, unatoč tome što je cijelo njeno kućanstvo zaraženo covidom-19, nikada nije bila pozitivna na ovaj virus. Sada su znanstvenici pronašli objašnjenje, a nova studija pokazuje da dio ljudi doživi "abortivnu infekciju" u kojoj virus ulazi u tijelo, ali ga T-stanice imunološkog sustava čiste u najranijoj fazi, što znači da PCR i testovi na antitijela bilježe negativan rezultat, prenosi Jutarnji. 

Oko 15% zdravstvenih radnika, koji su praćeni tijekom prvog vala pandemije u Londonu, uklapa se u ovaj scenarij. Ovo otkriće moglo bi utrti put novoj generaciji cjepiva koje će biti usmjereno na odgovor T-stanica, što bi moglo proizvesti dugotrajniji imunitet, rekli su znanstvenici.

Leo Swadling, imunolog sa Sveučilišta u Londonu i glavni autor studije, rekao je: “Svatko ima anegdotske dokaze o ljudima koji bili izloženi virusu, ali nisu podlegli infekciji. No, ono što nismo znali je jesu li te osobe doista uspjele u potpunosti izbjeći virus ili su prirodno očistili virus prije nego što se mogao otkriti rutinskim testovima.”

Najnovija studija intenzivno je pratila zdravstvene radnike tijekom prvog vala pandemije kako bi zabilježili znakove infekcije i imunološki odgovor. Unatoč visokom riziku od izloženosti virusu, 58 sudionika ni u jednom trenutku nije bilo pozitivno na covid-19.

Međutim, uzorci krvi uzeti od ovih ljudi pokazali su da su imali porast broja T-stanica koje su reagirale na covid-19, u usporedbi s uzorcima koje su uzeli prije nego što je pandemija zavladala i u usporedbi s ljudima koji uopće nisu bili izloženi virusu.

Istraživanje sugerira da je skupina ljudi već imala memorijske T-stanice od prethodnih infekcija drugim sezonskim virusima koji su uzrokovali obične prehlade, što ih je zaštitilo od covida-19.

“Ove već postojeće T-stanice mogu prepoznati SARS-CoV-2”, rekao je Swadling.

Alexander Edwards, izvanredni profesor biomedicinske tehnologije na Sveučilištu Reading, rekao je: “Ova studija identificira (novi) ishod – dovoljnu izloženost virusu da se aktivira dio vašeg imunološkog sustava, ali nedovoljnu se osjetite simptomi, zabilježi značajna količina virusa i pokrene odgovor antitijela".

“Cjepivo koje jača imunitet T-stanica protiv različitih meta virusnih proteina, koje dijele mnogi koronavirusi, nadopunilo bi naša cjepiva koja induciraju neutralizirajuća antitijela. Budući da se radi o komponentama unutar virusa, antitijela su manje učinkovita – umjesto toga, T-stanice ulaze u igru", rekao je Andrew Freedman, istraživač zaraznih bolesti na Medicinskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Cardiffu.
