Danas je njihov praznik, ali i dan kad slave svi ljubitelji i zaštitnici faune. Svjetski dan životinja 4. listopada za cilj ima podsjetiti na potrebu poboljšanja odnosa prema životinjskim vrstama diljem svijeta i pružiti potporu pojedincima i udrugama koje skrbe o životinjama.

Među takve neumorne entuzijaste spada i veterinarka Sunčica Oštrić koju raduje skoro usvajanje dopuna Pravilnika o dobrobiti životinja koje propisuju da se nijednu životinju ne smije držati na lancu:
- Predviđeno je i da svi psi i mačke s izuzetkom onih ovlaštenih uzgajivača trebaju biti kastrirani. Drugdje u Europi ovo je odavno zaživjelo, samo mi kasnimo barem desetljeće – kaže veterinarka Oštrić koje je ipak zadovoljna napretkom koji se u odnosu prema životinjama dogodio u Hrvatskoj u posljednjem desetljeću:
- Naši ljudi se sve više okreću brizi za životinje, kućne ljubimce tretiraju kao prijatelje i članove obitelji, a sve je više i onih koji volonterski pomažu napuštenim životinjama. Voljela bih kad bi se i neka vrsta edukacije prenijela na naše najmlađe, da shvate koliko je važan ispravan pristup prema životinjama – ističe naša sugovornica koju pitamo i o ovoljetnom ‘izletu‘ stranih posjetitelja koji su neovlašteno naplaćivali fotografiranje sa sovama na Stradunu:

- Nikako ne odobravam fotografiranje sa pticama u reklamne ili turističke svrhe. A sova je po sebi nije nikakav kućni ljubimac, već zaštićena divlja vrsta za čije bi snimanje, nekomercijalno, trebala specijalna dozvola radi zaštite prirode. Što se pak tiče papiga koje su prije par godina bile atrakcija, ove su drugačije i mogu biti ljubimci, no njihovo izlaganje u turističke i financijske svrhe također mi je neprihvatljivo – govori Sunčica Oštrić.
Osvrće se i na povremeno korištenje magaraca za turističku promidžbu, ali i prijenos teških tereta:

- Tovari su naša draga životinja, zaštitni znak Dalmacije, od pamtivijeka služe kao radne životinje, a u tom su statusu upisane još i danas. No, to ne znači da ne treba odrediti čvrste granice do kojih ih možemo koristiti a da posrijedi ne bude zlostavljanje. Primjerice, ne vidim ništa sporno u magarećim utrkama u Tribunju, to je dio turističke tradicije i sigurno je da ti tovari zbog promidžbe žive u dobrim uvjetima. No, isto se nažalost ne može reći za neke konje koje, primjerice, opterete vučom trupaca koliko da se teško ozlijede – ističe omiljena veterinarka iz Mokošice koja uz Svjetski dan životinja za sugrađane ima kratku poruku:
- Brinite o životinjama. Ljudi koji ne vole životinje ne vole ni ljude. Treba nam više empatije i ljudskosti – poručila je Sunčica Oštrić.

Danas je njihov praznik, ali i dan kad slave svi ljubitelji i zaštitnici faune. Svjetski dan životinja 4. listopada za cilj ima podsjetiti na potrebu poboljšanja odnosa prema životinjskim vrstama diljem svijeta i pružiti potporu pojedincima i udrugama koje skrbe o životinjama.

Među takve neumorne entuzijaste spada i veterinarka Sunčica Oštrić koju raduje skoro usvajanje dopuna Pravilnika o dobrobiti životinja koje propisuju da se nijednu životinju ne smije držati na lancu:
- Predviđeno je i da svi psi i mačke s izuzetkom onih ovlaštenih uzgajivača trebaju biti kastrirani. Drugdje u Europi ovo je odavno zaživjelo, samo mi kasnimo barem desetljeće – kaže veterinarka Oštrić koje je ipak zadovoljna napretkom koji se u odnosu prema životinjama dogodio u Hrvatskoj u posljednjem desetljeću:
- Naši ljudi se sve više okreću brizi za životinje, kućne ljubimce tretiraju kao prijatelje i članove obitelji, a sve je više i onih koji volonterski pomažu napuštenim životinjama. Voljela bih kad bi se i neka vrsta edukacije prenijela na naše najmlađe, da shvate koliko je važan ispravan pristup prema životinjama – ističe naša sugovornica koju pitamo i o ovoljetnom ‘izletu‘ stranih posjetitelja koji su neovlašteno naplaćivali fotografiranje sa sovama na Stradunu:

- Nikako ne odobravam fotografiranje sa pticama u reklamne ili turističke svrhe. A sova je po sebi nije nikakav kućni ljubimac, već zaštićena divlja vrsta za čije bi snimanje, nekomercijalno, trebala specijalna dozvola radi zaštite prirode. Što se pak tiče papiga koje su prije par godina bile atrakcija, ove su drugačije i mogu biti ljubimci, no njihovo izlaganje u turističke i financijske svrhe također mi je neprihvatljivo – govori Sunčica Oštrić.

- Tovari su naša draga životinja, zaštitni znak Dalmacije, od pamtivijeka služe kao radne životinje, a u tom su statusu upisane još i danas. No, to ne znači da ne treba odrediti čvrste granice do kojih ih možemo koristiti a da posrijedi ne bude zlostavljanje. Primjerice, ne vidim ništa sporno u magarećim utrkama u Tribunju, to je dio turističke tradicije i sigurno je da ti tovari zbog promidžbe žive u dobrim uvjetima. No, isto se nažalost ne može reći za neke konje koje, primjerice, opterete vučom trupaca koliko da se teško ozlijede – ističe omiljena veterinarka iz Mokošice koja uz Svjetski dan životinja za sugrađane ima kratku poruku:
- Brinite o životinjama. Ljudi koji ne vole životinje ne vole ni ljude. Treba nam više empatije i ljudskosti – poručila je Sunčica Oštrić.
