O gastarbajterima iz šezdesetih i sedamdesetih godina govorilo se kao o ljudima na "privremenom radu" u inozemstvu. Dok se baratalo tom frazom, nitko nije mogao znati koliko je ona istinita ili lažna, ona je tek zrcalila utješnu nadu da će se ljudi koji su svoju domovinu napustili, kad-tad, čim zarade dovoljno para, u nju i vratiti.

S ove distance, možemo reći da je većina tako i postupila, iako je nezanemariv broj ekonomskih migranata iz toga vala, a osobito njihove djece, odlučio ostati u zemljama koje su im dale kruh. Stari kraj njima je danas samo emocionalna činjenica, mjesto u koje svrate jednom godišnje, ako i tada, tek da bi obišli grobove predaka.

Hoće li tako biti i s mladim ljudima, njih nekoliko stotina tisuća koji su zadnjih godina napustili Hrvatsku? Dobar dio njih nije, poput starih gastarbajtera, u bijeli svijet otišao bez kvalifikacija ili sa svjedodžbama zanatskih škola.

Pozavršavali su fakultete i stekli respektabilno obrazovanje koje im doma nije moglo zajamčiti ništa, čak ni golu egzistenciju, a kamoli tek udoban život. U tuđini su se uspjeli snaći relativno brzo i relativno dobro. Koliko je teška i bolna bila njihova prilagodba na novu sredinu, oni najbolje znaju. Mi, pak, imamo dovoljno razloga vjerovati da im nije bilo lako, da im, uostalom, ni dandanas nije. Ali im je, očito, bolje nego što bi im bilo doma. Uostalom, zato se i ne vraćaju. A hoće li, ako ne sutra, a onda za koju godinu?

Odgovor na to pitanje skriven je, bojim se, u podacima o izlasku Hrvata s prebivalištem u Irskoj na parlamentarne izbore. Procjenjuje se da u toj zemlji živi između 16 i 17 tisuća naših zemljaka. Naravno, među njima ima i mlađih od osamnaest godina, koji još uvijek nisu stekli biračko pravo, ali svejedno se radi o vrlo visokom broju građana koji su mogli sudjelovati na izborima. No od svih tih tisuća ljudi samo su trideset i tri osobe odlučile izjasniti se o svojim političkim favoritima. Ponavljam, da ne bude nikakve zabune: samo 33 osobe!

Okej, izbori su provedeni na radni dan i nije svima bilo lako organizirati se da na vrijeme stignu do biračkoga mjesta. No bez obzira na sve objektivne poteškoće, brojka od 33 osobe zapanjujuće je mala. I ona se ne može shvatiti drukčije nego kao poruka da su Hrvati u Irskoj digli ruke od vlastite zemlje.

Oni više ne vjeruju u obećavajuće zaokrete i sretne rasplete, ili ako i vjeruju, oni ih se više ne tiču, jer su svoj bolji život pronašli na drugom kraju svijeta, svoju budućnost vide tamo, a ne u zemlji koju su napustili. Oni nisu na privremenom radu, njihova je odsutnost trajna. A to je isključiva zasluga HDZ-a.

O gastarbajterima iz šezdesetih i sedamdesetih godina govorilo se kao o ljudima na "privremenom radu" u inozemstvu. Dok se baratalo tom frazom, nitko nije mogao znati koliko je ona istinita ili lažna, ona je tek zrcalila utješnu nadu da će se ljudi koji su svoju domovinu napustili, kad-tad, čim zarade dovoljno para, u nju i vratiti.

S ove distance, možemo reći da je većina tako i postupila, iako je nezanemariv broj ekonomskih migranata iz toga vala, a osobito njihove djece, odlučio ostati u zemljama koje su im dale kruh. Stari kraj njima je danas samo emocionalna činjenica, mjesto u koje svrate jednom godišnje, ako i tada, tek da bi obišli grobove predaka.

Hoće li tako biti i s mladim ljudima, njih nekoliko stotina tisuća koji su zadnjih godina napustili Hrvatsku? Dobar dio njih nije, poput starih gastarbajtera, u bijeli svijet otišao bez kvalifikacija ili sa svjedodžbama zanatskih škola.

Pozavršavali su fakultete i stekli respektabilno obrazovanje koje im doma nije moglo zajamčiti ništa, čak ni golu egzistenciju, a kamoli tek udoban život. U tuđini su se uspjeli snaći relativno brzo i relativno dobro. Koliko je teška i bolna bila njihova prilagodba na novu sredinu, oni najbolje znaju. Mi, pak, imamo dovoljno razloga vjerovati da im nije bilo lako, da im, uostalom, ni dandanas nije. Ali im je, očito, bolje nego što bi im bilo doma. Uostalom, zato se i ne vraćaju. A hoće li, ako ne sutra, a onda za koju godinu?

Odgovor na to pitanje skriven je, bojim se, u podacima o izlasku Hrvata s prebivalištem u Irskoj na parlamentarne izbore. Procjenjuje se da u toj zemlji živi između 16 i 17 tisuća naših zemljaka. Naravno, među njima ima i mlađih od osamnaest godina, koji još uvijek nisu stekli biračko pravo, ali svejedno se radi o vrlo visokom broju građana koji su mogli sudjelovati na izborima. No od svih tih tisuća ljudi samo su trideset i tri osobe odlučile izjasniti se o svojim političkim favoritima. Ponavljam, da ne bude nikakve zabune: samo 33 osobe!

Okej, izbori su provedeni na radni dan i nije svima bilo lako organizirati se da na vrijeme stignu do biračkoga mjesta. No bez obzira na sve objektivne poteškoće, brojka od 33 osobe zapanjujuće je mala. I ona se ne može shvatiti drukčije nego kao poruka da su Hrvati u Irskoj digli ruke od vlastite zemlje.

Oni više ne vjeruju u obećavajuće zaokrete i sretne rasplete, ili ako i vjeruju, oni ih se više ne tiču, jer su svoj bolji život pronašli na drugom kraju svijeta, svoju budućnost vide tamo, a ne u zemlji koju su napustili. Oni nisu na privremenom radu, njihova je odsutnost trajna. A to je isključiva zasluga HDZ-a.

O gastarbajterima iz šezdesetih i sedamdesetih godina govorilo se kao o ljudima na "privremenom radu" u inozemstvu. Dok se baratalo tom frazom, nitko nije mogao znati koliko je ona istinita ili lažna, ona je tek zrcalila utješnu nadu da će se ljudi koji su svoju domovinu napustili, kad-tad, čim zarade dovoljno para, u nju i vratiti.

S ove distance, možemo reći da je većina tako i postupila, iako je nezanemariv broj ekonomskih migranata iz toga vala, a osobito njihove djece, odlučio ostati u zemljama koje su im dale kruh. Stari kraj njima je danas samo emocionalna činjenica, mjesto u koje svrate jednom godišnje, ako i tada, tek da bi obišli grobove predaka.
