Ištvan Görög rodio se 17. lipnja 1934. godine kao treće i najmlađe dijete u obitelji vojvođanskih Mađara u Banatskom Aranđelovu, malom selu u blizini Sente u Vojvodini. U Senti je završio gimnaziju, a Medicinski fakultet u Zagrebu. Studirajući cijelo je vrijeme radio na Hitnoj medicinskoj pomoći u Zagrebu čiji je i suosnivač. Stažirao je u Dubrovniku, a radio na Mljetu, u Kuni te od 1965. godine u Orebiću.

Dr. Ištvan bio je specijalist Opće medicine sa završenim postdiplomskim studijem iz Hitne medicine, dodatno se usavršio iz područja brodske i tropske medicine i prošao posebnu edukaciju iz akupunkture koju je primjenjivao u svom radu. U Domovinskom ratu stavio se na raspolaganje Hrvatskoj vojsci pa je vruće ljetne mjesece proveo u kamenjaru Popovog polja kao hrvatski dragovoljac. Od Općine Orebić posmrtno je dobio nagradu za životno djelo za nesebično pružanje zdravstvene zaštite.

Dr. Ištvan bio je predan obiteljski čovjek što je ostalo zauvijek zabilježeno u snažnoj vezi njegovih potomaka i danas. Nakon što je spasio od smrtonosnog ugriza zmije, 1969. godine oženio se sa suprugom Marijom. Dobili su četvero djece, tri sina i kćer Rozaliju Kurilj.

Sudeći prema predanosti dr. Ištvana, ne čudi što je dvoje njegove djece odabralo medicinu kao svoje životne pozive. Njegov sin danas je specijalist pulmolog u Švedskoj, a kćer Rozalija je medicinska sestra u Orebiću.

Dr. Ištvan umire 2. ožujka 1994. u Splitu od posljedica infarkta, srčanog udara u dobi od 59 godina.

Pelješčani o njemu govore blago, emotivno i s oduševljenjem, kažu da takvih doktora više nema. Dr. Ištvan godinama je radio sam, 24 sata dnevno, 7 dana u tjednu kao jedini liječnik na cijelom području današnje Općine Orebić, a broj pacijenata se i tada u ljetnim mjesecima višestruko povećavao dolaskom turista u brojna odmarališta.

Za pacijente mu nikad ništa nije bilo teško, do Lovišta nije bilo ceste, išao bi pješke ili barkom, od umora bi često zaspao uz bolesnike. Radio je sve što jednoj izoliranoj sredini treba, od poroda do složenih manjih operativnih zahvata, a kažu da su ga i u Zagrebu priznavali kao izvrsnog dijagnostičara.

Za dr. Ištvana svi se slažu u jednom - medicina mu nije bila posao, bila mu je poziv, bila mu je život.

"I danas nakon 30 godina, sjećanje na njega još je uvijek živo, radim na terenu s pacijentima i u svakoj kući se spominje, još je uvijek živa priča o njemu. Ljudi ga spominju s poštovanjem i zahvalnošću, često i zaplaču. Sjećaju ga se i oni koji su bili djeca dok je radio, o njemu pričaju i oni koji još nisu ni bili rođeni dok je radio, ali su im o njemu pričali stariji članovi obitelji. Svi se slažu da je bio jedan i jedini, neponovljiv...", ispričala nam je emotivno Rozalija.

Ištvan Görög rodio se 17. lipnja 1934. godine kao treće i najmlađe dijete u obitelji vojvođanskih Mađara u Banatskom Aranđelovu, malom selu u blizini Sente u Vojvodini. U Senti je završio gimnaziju, a Medicinski fakultet u Zagrebu. Studirajući cijelo je vrijeme radio na Hitnoj medicinskoj pomoći u Zagrebu čiji je i suosnivač. Stažirao je u Dubrovniku, a radio na Mljetu, u Kuni te od 1965. godine u Orebiću.

Dr. Ištvan bio je specijalist Opće medicine sa završenim postdiplomskim studijem iz Hitne medicine, dodatno se usavršio iz područja brodske i tropske medicine i prošao posebnu edukaciju iz akupunkture koju je primjenjivao u svom radu. U Domovinskom ratu stavio se na raspolaganje Hrvatskoj vojsci pa je vruće ljetne mjesece proveo u kamenjaru Popovog polja kao hrvatski dragovoljac. Od Općine Orebić posmrtno je dobio nagradu za životno djelo za nesebično pružanje zdravstvene zaštite.

Dr. Ištvan bio je predan obiteljski čovjek što je ostalo zauvijek zabilježeno u snažnoj vezi njegovih potomaka i danas. Nakon što je spasio od smrtonosnog ugriza zmije, 1969. godine oženio se sa suprugom Marijom. Dobili su četvero djece, tri sina i kćer Rozaliju Kurilj.

Sudeći prema predanosti dr. Ištvana, ne čudi što je dvoje njegove djece odabralo medicinu kao svoje životne pozive. Njegov sin danas je specijalist pulmolog u Švedskoj, a kćer Rozalija je medicinska sestra u Orebiću.

Dr. Ištvan umire 2. ožujka 1994. u Splitu od posljedica infarkta, srčanog udara u dobi od 59 godina.

Pelješčani o njemu govore blago, emotivno i s oduševljenjem, kažu da takvih doktora više nema. Dr. Ištvan godinama je radio sam, 24 sata dnevno, 7 dana u tjednu kao jedini liječnik na cijelom području današnje Općine Orebić, a broj pacijenata se i tada u ljetnim mjesecima višestruko povećavao dolaskom turista u brojna odmarališta.

Za pacijente mu nikad ništa nije bilo teško, do Lovišta nije bilo ceste, išao bi pješke ili barkom, od umora bi često zaspao uz bolesnike. Radio je sve što jednoj izoliranoj sredini treba, od poroda do složenih manjih operativnih zahvata, a kažu da su ga i u Zagrebu priznavali kao izvrsnog dijagnostičara.

Za dr. Ištvana svi se slažu u jednom - medicina mu nije bila posao, bila mu je poziv, bila mu je život.

"I danas nakon 30 godina, sjećanje na njega još je uvijek živo, radim na terenu s pacijentima i u svakoj kući se spominje, još je uvijek živa priča o njemu. Ljudi ga spominju s poštovanjem i zahvalnošću, često i zaplaču. Sjećaju ga se i oni koji su bili djeca dok je radio, o njemu pričaju i oni koji još nisu ni bili rođeni dok je radio, ali su im o njemu pričali stariji članovi obitelji. Svi se slažu da je bio jedan i jedini, neponovljiv...", ispričala nam je emotivno Rozalija.

Iako ga nema već 30 godina, Pelješčani se i danas rado sjećaju omiljenog doktora Ištvana: ‘Uvijek je bio dostupan, ljubazan i spreman pomoći...‘

Ištvan Görög rodio se 17. lipnja 1934. godine kao treće i najmlađe dijete u obitelji vojvođanskih Mađara u Banatskom Aranđelovu, malom selu u blizini Sente u Vojvodini. U Senti je završio gimnaziju, a Medicinski fakultet u Zagrebu. Studirajući cijelo je vrijeme radio na Hitnoj medicinskoj pomoći u Zagrebu čiji je i suosnivač. Stažirao je u Dubrovniku, a radio na Mljetu, u Kuni te od 1965. godine u Orebiću.
