Na današnji dan, 1. listopada 1991. godine prije 32 godine, malo prije 6 sati ujutro, napadom JNA, rezervista te pripadnika paravojnih srbocrnogorskih formacija iz pravca Crne Gore i BiH počela je agresija na krajnji jug Hrvatske i Dubrovnik s kopna, mora i zraka. Napadu više od 10 tisuća neprijateljskih vojnika užičkog, podgoričkog i mostarskog korpusa te 9. Vojno pomorskog sektora Boka uz paljbu stotinjak tenkova i teške artiljerije na kopnu te raketiranju s topovnjača ratne mornarice te MIG-ova iz zraka, na bojišnici dugoj više od 200 kilometara suprostavilo se tek 750 slabo naoružanih hrvatskih branitelja, pripadnika tadašnjeg dubrovačkog Zbora narodne garde, policije te dragovoljaca.

Iz haubica s položaja Hercegovačkog korpusa JNA oko Trebinja i iz minobacača s Ivanice u BiH ispaljene su prve granate na sam Dubrovnik. Prve su pale na područje naselja Bosanka na Srđu i na Mokošicu. Već nakon nekoliko sati, vojni zrakoplovi raketirali su trafostanicu u Komolcu pa je Dubrovnik ostao bez struje i vode, a potom i tadašnji Centar za uzbunjivanje i obavještavanje te telekomunikacijski repetitor na Srđu. Grad je komunikacijski ostao odsječen od svijeta. To je bio početak tromjesečne blokade Dubrovnika koju su ipak uspješno probijali pripadnici Odreda naoružanih brodova. Naoružanim i oklopljenim brzim gliserima u Dubrovniku su dopremali lijekove, naoružanje te prevozili branitelje.

Unatoč nadmoći u ljudstvu i naoružanju neprijateljskoj vojsci trebalo je pet dana da okupira Konavle te da uđe u Slano sa zapadne strane Dubrovnika i tako ga kopneno odsječu od ostatka Hrvatske. U prvom tjednu napada poginulo je 27 branitelja i civila, a stotinjak ih je ranjeno. Krajem listopada neprijateljske trupe stigle su i do samog Dubrovnika u kojem se bez struje i vode nalazilo 50 tisuća građana, Dubrovčana te izbjeglica sa okupiranih područja Konavala, Župe dubrovačke i Dubrovačkog primorja. No osvajanje samog Dubrovnika, zahvaljujući malobrojnim ali hrabrim braniteljima koji su utvrdili položaje na tvrđavi Imperial na Srđu, hotelu Belvedere na istočnom ulazu te naselju Sustjepan na zapadnom ulazu u grad, nije im pošlo za rukom.

Najteži napadi na Dubrovnik u njegovoj povijesti dogodili su se od 8. do 14. studenog kada je na područje grada palo više od 5 tisuća projektila, a potom i na svetog Nikolu, 6. prosinca, kada je samo na od UNESCO-a zaštićenu povijesnu jezgru ispaljeno 600 topničkih projektila. U tom napadu devet zgrada unutar dubrovačkih zidina u potpunosti je izgorjelo, 456 ih je teško oštećeno, a na sami Stradun palo je 45 granata. Tijekom napada i okupacije dubrovačkog područja s kojeg je izbjeglo i prognano više o 33 tisuća ljudi, poginula su 184 branitelja i 92 civila, a ranjeno je više od 1500 ljudi. U koncentracijskim logorima u Bileći u BiH te u Morinju u Crnoj gori, bile su zatočene 423 osobe. Neprijatelj je od Stona do Konavala do temelja spalio 2.127 kuća pa je bez krova nad glavom ostalo skoro 7.800 građana. Zapaljen je i zaštićeni, pola stoljeća star Arboretum u Trstenom, a okupirano područje potpuno je opljačkano.

Na današnji dan, 1. listopada 1991. godine prije 32 godine, malo prije 6 sati ujutro, napadom JNA, rezervista te pripadnika paravojnih srbocrnogorskih formacija iz pravca Crne Gore i BiH počela je agresija na krajnji jug Hrvatske i Dubrovnik s kopna, mora i zraka. Napadu više od 10 tisuća neprijateljskih vojnika užičkog, podgoričkog i mostarskog korpusa te 9. Vojno pomorskog sektora Boka uz paljbu stotinjak tenkova i teške artiljerije na kopnu te raketiranju s topovnjača ratne mornarice te MIG-ova iz zraka, na bojišnici dugoj više od 200 kilometara suprostavilo se tek 750 slabo naoružanih hrvatskih branitelja, pripadnika tadašnjeg dubrovačkog Zbora narodne garde, policije te dragovoljaca.

Iz haubica s položaja Hercegovačkog korpusa JNA oko Trebinja i iz minobacača s Ivanice u BiH ispaljene su prve granate na sam Dubrovnik. Prve su pale na područje naselja Bosanka na Srđu i na Mokošicu. Već nakon nekoliko sati, vojni zrakoplovi raketirali su trafostanicu u Komolcu pa je Dubrovnik ostao bez struje i vode, a potom i tadašnji Centar za uzbunjivanje i obavještavanje te telekomunikacijski repetitor na Srđu. Grad je komunikacijski ostao odsječen od svijeta. To je bio početak tromjesečne blokade Dubrovnika koju su ipak uspješno probijali pripadnici Odreda naoružanih brodova. Naoružanim i oklopljenim brzim gliserima u Dubrovniku su dopremali lijekove, naoružanje te prevozili branitelje.

Unatoč nadmoći u ljudstvu i naoružanju neprijateljskoj vojsci trebalo je pet dana da okupira Konavle te da uđe u Slano sa zapadne strane Dubrovnika i tako ga kopneno odsječu od ostatka Hrvatske. U prvom tjednu napada poginulo je 27 branitelja i civila, a stotinjak ih je ranjeno. Krajem listopada neprijateljske trupe stigle su i do samog Dubrovnika u kojem se bez struje i vode nalazilo 50 tisuća građana, Dubrovčana te izbjeglica sa okupiranih područja Konavala, Župe dubrovačke i Dubrovačkog primorja. No osvajanje samog Dubrovnika, zahvaljujući malobrojnim ali hrabrim braniteljima koji su utvrdili položaje na tvrđavi Imperial na Srđu, hotelu Belvedere na istočnom ulazu te naselju Sustjepan na zapadnom ulazu u grad, nije im pošlo za rukom.

Najteži napadi na Dubrovnik u njegovoj povijesti dogodili su se od 8. do 14. studenog kada je na područje grada palo više od 5 tisuća projektila, a potom i na svetog Nikolu, 6. prosinca, kada je samo na od UNESCO-a zaštićenu povijesnu jezgru ispaljeno 600 topničkih projektila. U tom napadu devet zgrada unutar dubrovačkih zidina u potpunosti je izgorjelo, 456 ih je teško oštećeno, a na sami Stradun palo je 45 granata. Tijekom napada i okupacije dubrovačkog područja s kojeg je izbjeglo i prognano više o 33 tisuća ljudi, poginula su 184 branitelja i 92 civila, a ranjeno je više od 1500 ljudi. U koncentracijskim logorima u Bileći u BiH te u Morinju u Crnoj gori, bile su zatočene 423 osobe. Neprijatelj je od Stona do Konavala do temelja spalio 2.127 kuća pa je bez krova nad glavom ostalo skoro 7.800 građana. Zapaljen je i zaštićeni, pola stoljeća star Arboretum u Trstenom, a okupirano područje potpuno je opljačkano.
