“Dole niz cestu naići ćete na Projekt Eden koji je zaista vrijedan posjeta, čim prođete gradić St. Blazey (Sv. Vlaha),” rekla je naša domaćica s Airbnb. “Oprostite, što ste upravo rekli?” upitao sam. “Mislite na Eden projekt…,” upitala nas je. “Ne, ne, nego na ime gradića,” odvratio sam. “St. Blazey, na to mislite?”

Nisam mogao vjerovati svojim ušima. Nakon 45 dana od ukupnih 63 provedenih u hodanju jugom Velike Britanije i stigli smo do gradića St. Blazey, (iako smo spavali u obližnjem selu Par). Tad sam shvatio da mi u Gradu nemamo “ekskluzivu” što se tiče patronstva Svetoga Vlaha. Ovaj se svetac spominje već 735. godine. Diljem Engleske postoje mnoge crkve posvećene upravo njemu, a mnoge su se našle na našem pješačkom putu.

Sveti Vlaho stoljećima štiti svoj Dubrovnik

Tako smo naletili na čak tri crkve Svetoga Vlaha, različitih veličina. Postoji čak i veličanstven dvorac nazvan po “našemu” parcu, a smješten je na Vlahovom brdu, tj. Blasie Hillu. Jedan od najvažnijih sakralnih objekata u Velikoj Britaniji, Westminster Abbey, u prošlosti je imala kapelicu Svetoga Vlaha, sve dok nije došao Henrik VIII. i sukobio se s Katoličkom crkvom.

I da, isto kao i Dubrovnik, gradić St. Blazey u Engleskoj ima svoju festu na 3. veljače, ali na nešto drugačiji način. Naime, Sveti je Vlaho između ostalog bio zaštitnik vunene industrije, tj. proizvodnje vune. Mnogi gradići na jugu Engleske u prošlosti su bili središta tekstilne industije te su za Armence organizirali posebne feste. To znači da je na ulicama grada St. Blazey išla procesija u kojoj su iza lokalnih svećenika hodali ovnovi okićeni raznobojnim trakama.

Zamislite to na Stradunu, stado ovaca u procesiji! Riječ je o istom svecu, o čemu svjedoči ploča na ulazu u grad: grad je dobio ime po Armencu Svetomu Vlahu! Sva sreća da je svetac boravio tamo prije Brexita, inače bi još bio s druge strane Kanala! Bez obzira na to što je udaljenost između ova dva grada 2700 kilometara, imaju začuđujuće puno zajedničkih stvari. U tom malom gradiću St. Blazeyu, koji ima manje stanovnika od Mokošice, u crkvi St. Blaise također imaju grličanje. Osim toga i sama je crkva sagrađena u istom stoljeću kao i naša u Gradu, a zanimljivo je to što su obje nastale na ostacima druge crkve.

Postoji još nekoliko pomalo sablasnih usporedbi: na objema lokacijama nekada su vozili parni vlakovi i više ih nema. Oba mjesta žive od turista i turizma. Znamo zašto turisti dolaze u naš Grad, dok u St. Blazey u Corwallu dolaze zbog nevjerojatnog Eden projekta.

Teško je opisati taj Eden (Raj), iako možete i pretpostaviti. Riječ je o četiri ogromne kupole (ogromno je preslaba riječ), koje su svojevrsni globalni vrt u kojem se nalaze različite biljke, stabla, povrće itd. doneseno sa svih strana svijeta. Doslovno možete hodati kroz šumu Amazonije, pustinju Saharu, Mediteranom i još mnogim krajevima našega Planeta. Točno je da su vrste turizma u Gradu i u St. Blazeyu različite, međutim, brojevi turista su jednako impresivni. Prošle je godine Eden projekt olitiga Rajski vrt posjetilo milijun ljudi.

Klupka vune

Sličnosti između gradića na jugu Engleske koji nosi ime našega parca i za kojeg nikad prije nisam čuo i bisera Jadrana su nepobitne. I dok čekamo proslavu najvažnijeg dana u godini u našemu Gradu zabilježimo da je sve nekako povezano. Jest, Sveti Vlaho je naš parac, ali u drugu ruku, ne možemo držat “monopol” nad njim. Od Grčke do Njemačke, Skandinavije i Španjolske (znači, samo u Europi), sve nas povezuje Sveti Vlaho. Svetac koji spaja ljude. I to je lekcija koja bi trebala vrijediti za cijeli svijet.

Uživali smo 1051. put u danu u kojem cijeli Stradun oboje nošnje iz cijele županije i one naših gostiju, zablistaju lica sretnih ljudi i djece, izviju se barjaci i u zrak vinuti bijele golubice. Spravimo makarule i dubrovačke delicije, počastimo familiju i goste!

Sveti Vlaho stoljećima štiti svoj Dubrovnik

“Dole niz cestu naići ćete na Projekt Eden koji je zaista vrijedan posjeta, čim prođete gradić St. Blazey (Sv. Vlaha),” rekla je naša domaćica s Airbnb. “Oprostite, što ste upravo rekli?” upitao sam. “Mislite na Eden projekt…,” upitala nas je. “Ne, ne, nego na ime gradića,” odvratio sam. “St. Blazey, na to mislite?”

Nisam mogao vjerovati svojim ušima. Nakon 45 dana od ukupnih 63 provedenih u hodanju jugom Velike Britanije i stigli smo do gradića St. Blazey, (iako smo spavali u obližnjem selu Par). Tad sam shvatio da mi u Gradu nemamo “ekskluzivu” što se tiče patronstva Svetoga Vlaha. Ovaj se svetac spominje već 735. godine. Diljem Engleske postoje mnoge crkve posvećene upravo njemu, a mnoge su se našle na našem pješačkom putu.

Sveti Vlaho stoljećima štiti svoj Dubrovnik

Tako smo naletili na čak tri crkve Svetoga Vlaha, različitih veličina. Postoji čak i veličanstven dvorac nazvan po “našemu” parcu, a smješten je na Vlahovom brdu, tj. Blasie Hillu. Jedan od najvažnijih sakralnih objekata u Velikoj Britaniji, Westminster Abbey, u prošlosti je imala kapelicu Svetoga Vlaha, sve dok nije došao Henrik VIII. i sukobio se s Katoličkom crkvom.

I da, isto kao i Dubrovnik, gradić St. Blazey u Engleskoj ima svoju festu na 3. veljače, ali na nešto drugačiji način. Naime, Sveti je Vlaho između ostalog bio zaštitnik vunene industrije, tj. proizvodnje vune. Mnogi gradići na jugu Engleske u prošlosti su bili središta tekstilne industije te su za Armence organizirali posebne feste. To znači da je na ulicama grada St. Blazey išla procesija u kojoj su iza lokalnih svećenika hodali ovnovi okićeni raznobojnim trakama.

Zamislite to na Stradunu, stado ovaca u procesiji! Riječ je o istom svecu, o čemu svjedoči ploča na ulazu u grad: grad je dobio ime po Armencu Svetomu Vlahu! Sva sreća da je svetac boravio tamo prije Brexita, inače bi još bio s druge strane Kanala! Bez obzira na to što je udaljenost između ova dva grada 2700 kilometara, imaju začuđujuće puno zajedničkih stvari. U tom malom gradiću St. Blazeyu, koji ima manje stanovnika od Mokošice, u crkvi St. Blaise također imaju grličanje. Osim toga i sama je crkva sagrađena u istom stoljeću kao i naša u Gradu, a zanimljivo je to što su obje nastale na ostacima druge crkve.

Postoji još nekoliko pomalo sablasnih usporedbi: na objema lokacijama nekada su vozili parni vlakovi i više ih nema. Oba mjesta žive od turista i turizma. Znamo zašto turisti dolaze u naš Grad, dok u St. Blazey u Corwallu dolaze zbog nevjerojatnog Eden projekta.

Teško je opisati taj Eden (Raj), iako možete i pretpostaviti. Riječ je o četiri ogromne kupole (ogromno je preslaba riječ), koje su svojevrsni globalni vrt u kojem se nalaze različite biljke, stabla, povrće itd. doneseno sa svih strana svijeta. Doslovno možete hodati kroz šumu Amazonije, pustinju Saharu, Mediteranom i još mnogim krajevima našega Planeta. Točno je da su vrste turizma u Gradu i u St. Blazeyu različite, međutim, brojevi turista su jednako impresivni. Prošle je godine Eden projekt olitiga Rajski vrt posjetilo milijun ljudi.

Sličnosti između gradića na jugu Engleske koji nosi ime našega parca i za kojeg nikad prije nisam čuo i bisera Jadrana su nepobitne. I dok čekamo proslavu najvažnijeg dana u godini u našemu Gradu zabilježimo da je sve nekako povezano. Jest, Sveti Vlaho je naš parac, ali u drugu ruku, ne možemo držat “monopol” nad njim. Od Grčke do Njemačke, Skandinavije i Španjolske (znači, samo u Europi), sve nas povezuje Sveti Vlaho. Svetac koji spaja ljude. I to je lekcija koja bi trebala vrijediti za cijeli svijet.

Uživali smo 1051. put u danu u kojem cijeli Stradun oboje nošnje iz cijele županije i one naših gostiju, zablistaju lica sretnih ljudi i djece, izviju se barjaci i u zrak vinuti bijele golubice. Spravimo makarule i dubrovačke delicije, počastimo familiju i goste!
