Kaže da je oduvijek mrzio masovni turizam, ali da je često u njemu sudjelovao. 
- Put do Dubrovnika bio je obeshrabrujući, Na Heathrowu sam se osjećao uznemirujuće čudno: bio je jezivo prazan, ali i prometan. Kad sam ušao u zgradu, zaštitnu masku nisam skidao sve dok nisam napustio terminal u Dubrovniku. Ubrzo sam ju opet morao staviti na lice, kada je to od mene zatražio taksist, napisao je.

Opisuje kako je ulazak u restoran hotela sličio na scene iz antiratnog filma MASH, kada se liječnici pripremaju na dolazak ranjenika: 'Brzo se stavljaju maske i rukavice, sve se čisti kako bi stol bio spreman za doručak'.
Ističe kako je vrijeme bilo neuobičajeno loše, ali da je stari grad očaravajući po bilo kojem vremenu. Posebno spominje vodiča Roberta De Lorenza za kojega kaže da ga je ponukao da turizam promatra drugačijim očima.  

- On je potomak stare dubrovačke obitelji. Rekao sam mu kako mu je vjerojatno lijepo ove godine jer ima više prostora u gradu, bez kruzera koji inače svakih pet minuta iskrcavaju ljudski teret, prepričava Chiles.

Kaže da se Dubrovčanin nije složio s njim, pa mu je objasnio zbog čega.
- Kada stignu kruzeri, tisuće i tisuće ljudi se slijeva u grad po ljetnoj vrućini i čini mi se kao da nema autentičnijeg iskustva koje možete dobiti u Dubrovniku, kao u zlatno doba pomorsko-trgovačke luke. Mislite da je onda bilo mirno? Nikako, bila je ludnica, sve krcato, kao što je inače ovdje prijašnjih godina. Tko smo mi da se žalimo? Upravno nas je živahna interakcija mnoštva ljudi iz cijelog svijeta učinila sjajnima. Da smo ostali zatvoreni za cijeli svijet, još uvijek bismo bili ribarsko selo, rekao je.

Adrian Chiles priznaje kako nije o tome tako razmišljao. 
- Roberto je poput živog utjelovljenja zlatnog razdoblja trgovanja. Tečno govori engleski, njemački, francuski, španjolski, talijanski i mandarinski. Bez obzira odakle ste, potražite ako vas put nanese ovamo, zaključio je britanski kolumnist, donosi Jutarnji list. Kaže da je oduvijek mrzio masovni turizam, ali da je često u njemu sudjelovao. 
- Put do Dubrovnika bio je obeshrabrujući, Na Heathrowu sam se osjećao uznemirujuće čudno: bio je jezivo prazan, ali i prometan. Kad sam ušao u zgradu, zaštitnu masku nisam skidao sve dok nisam napustio terminal u Dubrovniku. Ubrzo sam ju opet morao staviti na lice, kada je to od mene zatražio taksist, napisao je.

Opisuje kako je ulazak u restoran hotela sličio na scene iz antiratnog filma MASH, kada se liječnici pripremaju na dolazak ranjenika: 'Brzo se stavljaju maske i rukavice, sve se čisti kako bi stol bio spreman za doručak'.
Ističe kako je vrijeme bilo neuobičajeno loše, ali da je stari grad očaravajući po bilo kojem vremenu. Posebno spominje vodiča Roberta De Lorenza za kojega kaže da ga je ponukao da turizam promatra drugačijim očima.  

- On je potomak stare dubrovačke obitelji. Rekao sam mu kako mu je vjerojatno lijepo ove godine jer ima više prostora u gradu, bez kruzera koji inače svakih pet minuta iskrcavaju ljudski teret, prepričava Chiles.

Kaže da se Dubrovčanin nije složio s njim, pa mu je objasnio zbog čega.
- Kada stignu kruzeri, tisuće i tisuće ljudi se slijeva u grad po ljetnoj vrućini i čini mi se kao da nema autentičnijeg iskustva koje možete dobiti u Dubrovniku, kao u zlatno doba pomorsko-trgovačke luke. Mislite da je onda bilo mirno? Nikako, bila je ludnica, sve krcato, kao što je inače ovdje prijašnjih godina. Tko smo mi da se žalimo? Upravno nas je živahna interakcija mnoštva ljudi iz cijelog svijeta učinila sjajnima. Da smo ostali zatvoreni za cijeli svijet, još uvijek bismo bili ribarsko selo, rekao je.

Adrian Chiles priznaje kako nije o tome tako razmišljao. 
- Roberto je poput živog utjelovljenja zlatnog razdoblja trgovanja. Tečno govori engleski, njemački, francuski, španjolski, talijanski i mandarinski. Bez obzira odakle ste, potražite ako vas put nanese ovamo, zaključio je britanski kolumnist, donosi Jutarnji list. ADRIAN CHILES, NOVINAR ‘THE GUARDIANA‘: ‘Mislio sam da Dubrovčani uživaju bez turista. Jedan čovjek otvorio mi je oči‘

Britanski TV voditelj i novinar Adrian Chiles posvetio je svoju zadnju kolumnu za The Guardian Dubrovniku koji je izabrao za svoju ljetnu destinaciju ovih dana, donosi Jutarnji list.

Kaže da je oduvijek mrzio masovni turizam, ali da je često u njemu sudjelovao. 
- Put do Dubrovnika bio je obeshrabrujući, Na Heathrowu sam se osjećao uznemirujuće čudno: bio je jezivo prazan, ali i prometan. Kad sam ušao u zgradu, zaštitnu masku nisam skidao sve dok nisam napustio terminal u Dubrovniku. Ubrzo sam ju opet morao staviti na lice, kada je to od mene zatražio taksist, napisao je.

Opisuje kako je ulazak u restoran hotela sličio na scene iz antiratnog filma MASH, kada se liječnici pripremaju na dolazak ranjenika: 'Brzo se stavljaju maske i rukavice, sve se čisti kako bi stol bio spreman za doručak'.
Ističe kako je vrijeme bilo neuobičajeno loše, ali da je stari grad očaravajući po bilo kojem vremenu. Posebno spominje vodiča Roberta De Lorenza za kojega kaže da ga je ponukao da turizam promatra drugačijim očima.  

- On je potomak stare dubrovačke obitelji. Rekao sam mu kako mu je vjerojatno lijepo ove godine jer ima više prostora u gradu, bez kruzera koji inače svakih pet minuta iskrcavaju ljudski teret, prepričava Chiles.

Kaže da se Dubrovčanin nije složio s njim, pa mu je objasnio zbog čega.
- Kada stignu kruzeri, tisuće i tisuće ljudi se slijeva u grad po ljetnoj vrućini i čini mi se kao da nema autentičnijeg iskustva koje možete dobiti u Dubrovniku, kao u zlatno doba pomorsko-trgovačke luke. Mislite da je onda bilo mirno? Nikako, bila je ludnica, sve krcato, kao što je inače ovdje prijašnjih godina. Tko smo mi da se žalimo? Upravno nas je živahna interakcija mnoštva ljudi iz cijelog svijeta učinila sjajnima. Da smo ostali zatvoreni za cijeli svijet, još uvijek bismo bili ribarsko selo, rekao je.

Adrian Chiles priznaje kako nije o tome tako razmišljao. 
- Roberto je poput živog utjelovljenja zlatnog razdoblja trgovanja. Tečno govori engleski, njemački, francuski, španjolski, talijanski i mandarinski. Bez obzira odakle ste, potražite ako vas put nanese ovamo, zaključio je britanski kolumnist, donosi Jutarnji list.
